Nautilus Mariners' Park residents were among members from the Wallasey branch of the Merchant Navy Association (MNA) who took up an invitation, along with other MNA branch members, from Cammell Lairds' managing director Mike Hill to visit the Birkenhead shipyard in June 2025.
The Wallasey branch of the MNA meets regularly at the Mariners' Park Estate for retired seafarers and their dependants.
The shipyard tour started in the company board room where Mr Hill gave a talk on the history and the current status of the company. This was followed by a tour of the yard which included the dry docks and fabrication units. They also spotted the first new Mersey Ferry to be built in 60 years - The Royal Daffodil – currently under construction and due for completion in 2026.
